Earlier today, it was reported that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband and confidant of the UK's Queen Elizabeth II passed away at Windsor Castle. He was 99. The official Twitter account of the Royal Family tweeted a statement from Buckingham Palace that read, "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."
As per new reports, Queen Elizabeth is expected to enter eight days of mourning following the death of Prince Philip. The monarch will not carry out any duties even in private under Covid restrictions, laws will not be given the Royal Assent and affairs of State will also be paused.
Following these eight days, a further period of official Royal Mourning is expected to continue for 30 days. The officials at Buckingham Palace are currently preparing for a funeral. For the uninitiated, Prince Philip is expected to be buried in Frogmore Gardens, in the grounds of Windsor Castle. In February this year, Prince Philip was admitted to a hospital as he was not feeling well. He was later released from the hospital in March.

Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth married in 1947. He had been by her side throughout her 69-year reign. The Royal Family also tweeted, "The Royal Family will join with the people around the world in mourning his loss."
